Wendy studied Town Planning at the University of New South Wales, graduating with First Class Honours and the University Medal. She followed up with a Masters Degree in Environmental Science (Management and Policy) at the University of Lund, Southern Sweden, and an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management.

Wendy married David Mackay in 2004. Wendy and Dave are planning their next big holiday to Patagonia and Easter Island in April next year.
